At the insistence of noted Mexican coin expert, historian, and prophet Clyde Hubbard that something new was needed for Mexican Numismatics, several of his disciples have decided to follow the master’s advice. These disciples are in the process of creating a series of six new books geared to helping all collectors learn more about the coins of the Republic Period of Mexico. Each new book in this series is designed to further the field of Mexican Numismatics by introducing the collecting world to something new and unique.
After years of work, FoxLair Partners, Ltd. is proud to announce the details of this new series of small (6”x 9”) spiral-bound handbooks to all of its friends, past customers and new collectors. This new book series is designed for both new and serious collectors of all Mexican Republic coins to carry with them at all times.
Not just another price guide, which soon becomes obsolete, almost before the ink dries after printing. These books are intended to be around for years helping collectors set collecting goals, individual strategies, and keeping notes of each owner’s collection. Each book is designed for a multiplicity of collectors: Type, DAM (Date/Assayer/Mintmark), or Variety Collector. These books will help each category of collector attain what is wanted for his or her collection.
Each new book in the series offers insights and informative data, some previously unseen in numismatic publications, about the 14 Mexican Republic mints, the coins manufactured in each and the people behind the mints.
All contain four-color, enlarged, high-resolution photographic reproductions of coins from each mint producing the series. These enlarged photos allow even the smallest coins (˝ Escudos and ˝ Reales) to be studied for details never before seen in catalogs or books. It will now be easy for even neophyte collectors to discern different coin styles and designs (Paris, Sonora, Soho, etc.) on the smallest coins of the Republic, which has been almost impossible in past catalogs or reference books.
Each new book in the series contains a checklist for all DAMs in that coin series, both verified and suspected. In addition there is a new rarity scale for each DAM, which rates each both qualitatively and quantitatively. This allows all collectors to know the overall availability and what grades, for each DAM, can normally be found, and which DAMs are currently confirmed, and those that remain unverified.
The first book in the series, about the gold pesos of the Republic, is scheduled for publishing during the 2nd quarter of 2005, with others being introduced every six months or so thereafter. For more details go to [Handbooks].
