While talking with several contributors to Mexican Coin Magic about this epical, they suggested printing my FoxLair True Rarity Scale for the Cap & Ray 8 Reales to make this article clearer. Here is the latest version.

Hints and thoughts about using The FoxLair True Rarity Scale:
This rarity scale is a guide developed by the author for his personal use; he is sharing with you.
The most important part of the scale is the number of coins available in the market by grade in my opinion.
This rarity scale is only as good as the data known about each DAM or Date/Assayer/Mintmark.
Grading by individuals is subjective and varies greatly.
A single coin graded by different people can normally vary by as much as two grades.

Collectable Grades used by the author:
GEM: The Perfect Coin full strike, perfect centering, full luster, Problem Free no hairlines or field marks
Unc: (Mint State) No Signs of Wear, Lustrous, but Strike and Luster can vary by mint & year
aUnc: (almost Uncirculated) Signs of handling or circulation on high spots and fields, much mint luster remains
XF: (Extra Fine) Noticeable wear on high points, generally has light field handling and bag marks
VF: (Very Fine) Moderate to heavy wear on high points, many field marks, dings & rim bruises normal
Fine: (Fine) Heavy wear across entire coin, legends are all readable, but heavily worn
VG: (Very Good) Central features & legends are disappearing, but legends are still readable
